Frequently asked questions

General

What type of warranty is provided for the products?
Intensions provides a 3-year warranty on the products, provided they are used for their intended purpose.

Do you provide measuring or fitting services and do these services incur an extra charge?
We do not provide measuring or fitting services, even for an extra charge. An easy-to-follow manual is available for each product via the website. The products are also very simple to fit.

Are Intensions window furnishings suitable for bathroom use?
We have a limited number of products that have been adapted especially for use in damp rooms. These include several roller blinds. None of our other products have been specifically made for use in damp rooms and for this reason a limited warranty applies when the product is used in a damp environment. However, our products can often be used in damp rooms without any adverse effect provided the area is well ventilated.

Do dark-coloured fabrics block out light better than light-coloured ones?
No, blackout fabrics are effective irrespective of their colour. The amount of light that is blocked out is the same for all blackout fabrics.

Does the order width include the fitting supports/decorative cap, or is it the width of the fabric only?
No, the order width that you indicate includes the mounting supports/decorative cap. The fabric itself will be approximately 3.5 cm narrower in total.

How should the roller blind fabric be cleaned?
We recommend that you clean the fabric using just a lint-free, slightly damp cloth without detergent.

Does blackout fabric guarantee light blocking?
Blackout fabric does not allow light to pass through it. However, a roller blind can still allow some light to get through at the sides.

What is the difference between blackout fabric and translucent/semi-transparent fabric?
Blackout fabric blocks all light and is therefore particularly suited for use in bedrooms. Little or nothing can be seen through translucent or semi-transparent fabric, but it does allow light to pass through. These fabrics are particularly suitable for all other rooms/areas.

What does ‘outside mount’ mean?
This means that the product is installed on the wall or the window frame. See the relevant product manual for further information and a visual description of this installation method. The manuals can also help you determine the best way for you to install your product.

What does ‘inside mount’ mean?
This means that the product is installed within the recessed area of your window opening (between 2 walls) or between the mouldings that surround the window glass. See the relevant product manual for further information and a visual description of this installation method. The manuals can also help you determine the best way for you to install your product.

Can I install Intensions window furnishings myself?
An installation manual is supplied with all of our products. If you follow these instructions step by step, you can easily install most products yourself.

What is the difference between transparent, semi-transparent, translucent and blackout fabric?
You can see straight through transparent fabrics such as those used for lace or net curtains. Semi-transparent fabric allows you to see outside, but the fabric has a denser, less open weave. Translucent fabric gives privacy while allowing light through. Blackout fabric lets no light through at all and is therefore particularly suited for use in bedrooms.

What are the roller blinds made from?
Most of our roller blinds are made from 100% polyester, some in combination with cotton. The fabrics used can be sensitive to variations in temperature and humidity. This means that rippling may appear and then disappear again due to changes in temperature or humidity. These changes may also cause the sides of the blinds to twist (what we call curling or cupping). Blackout fabrics are particularly susceptible to this. Fabrics may fade as a result of exposure to sunlight (UC radiation).
